Indonesia uses a 40 × 60 mm frame: a clean 2:3 rectangle where the common 35×45 card is 7:9, and noticeably taller in proportion as well as bigger. The background rule branches too — plain white for this preset, with red or blue appearing on some other documents.
How much of the frame the head has to fill
Sixty millimetres of height and a 60–70% band give 36 to 42 mm chin to crown — 6 mm more at the top than any 35×45 preset allows, where the ceiling is 36 mm. The space left over is generous: 18 mm at the tightest crop, 24 mm at the loosest. Centre the head vertically and you leave far too much air above it.
What gets this one sent back
- Glasses are not permitted and both ears must show, so plan the hair and take the spectacles off early.
- A 2:3 frame is no lab's standard crop. Printing unchecked tends to produce a 35×45 with your head misplaced.
- White is the rule here, but red and blue appear on some Indonesian documents. Confirm which one your form wants.
Half a metre clear of the wall so your shadow falls behind you, camera at about 1.5 metres so the lens does not widen your nose, soft light from the front. Take several.
Getting the print right
40×60 mm is a physical instruction; 945×1417 pixels is what it becomes at 600 dpi. The head band follows the same conversion — 60–70% of 60 mm is 36.0–42.0 mm, or 850–992 pixels in the exported file.
No digital ceiling is published for this one, which means the print is the binding version and the file only has to survive being printed. Use the sheet rather than sending a single image to a shop — several copies at true size on one page costs the same and covers the spare everyone ends up needing.
Print at 100%, not "fit to page" — the default shrink is invisible to you and measurable to whoever checks it.
How it works
- 01Add a recent photoFacing the camera, plain wall behind. HEIC from an iPhone works directly.
- 02Frame it to 40×60 mmDrag and zoom until your head fills 60–70% of the frame height, matching the dashed guide.
- 03Check the warningsThe border area is measured against "plain white (red or blue for some documents)" and flagged if it is uneven.
- 04Download or printSave the 945×1417 JPG, or take a print sheet with several copies laid out at true size.
