At 25 by 35 mm this is the smallest frame on the site, about the footprint of a postage stamp, listed as infantil. Into it goes a head filling 70 to 80 per cent of the height, the tightest crop of any preset here.
How much of the frame the head has to fill
The maximum head height, 28 mm, is taller than the photograph is wide. Eighty per cent of a 35 mm frame does that, and at the 24.5 mm minimum you still have only 10.5 mm for clearance above the hair and below the chin. At 600 dpi the head runs 579 to 662 pixels in an 827-pixel frame. Think head and a sliver of shoulder.
What gets this one sent back
- The forehead must be visible, so a fringe resting on the eyebrows costs more at this crop than in a roomier frame.
- Glasses are out, including the clear lenses and thin metal frames people assume are fine because they hide nothing.
- Printed at 300 dpi instead of 600, the 591 by 827 pixel file comes out at 50 by 70 mm — right shape, twice the size.
Half a metre clear of the wall so your shadow falls behind you, camera at about 1.5 metres so the lens does not widen your nose, soft light from the front. Take several.
Getting the print right
25×35 mm is a physical instruction; 591×827 pixels is what it becomes at 600 dpi. The head band follows the same conversion — 70–80% of 35 mm is 24.5–28.0 mm, or 579–662 pixels in the exported file.
No digital ceiling is published for this one, which means the print is the binding version and the file only has to survive being printed. Use the sheet rather than sending a single image to a shop — several copies at true size on one page costs the same and covers the spare everyone ends up needing.
Print at 100%, not "fit to page" — the default shrink is invisible to you and measurable to whoever checks it.
How it works
- 01Add a recent photoFacing the camera, plain wall behind. HEIC from an iPhone works directly.
- 02Frame it to 25×35 mmDrag and zoom until your head fills 70–80% of the frame height, matching the dashed guide.
- 03Check the warningsThe border area is measured against "plain white" and flagged if it is uneven.
- 04Download or printSave the 591×827 JPG, or take a print sheet with several copies laid out at true size.
